Ensure a Future for Homeless Animals by Including Little Orphan Angels in your Estate Plan
Your legacy can
live on for the homeless animals in our community when you include Little
Orphan Angels in your will. Making a gift to Little Orphan Angels through
your estate is one of the most charitable and effective ways to ensure that
we can carry on our mission to save animals' lives far into the future.
By including a
bequest to Little Orphan Angels in your will, you enable us to continue our
work of rescuing, rehabilitating and protecting homeless, unwanted and
abused animals. A gift to Little Orphan Angels through your will or living trust is a powerful statement of your concern for our companion animal friends and of your support for Little Orphan Angels' mission to provide quality care for homeless and unwanted dogs and cats in a no-kill environment until they are adopted into their forever homes. The most common planned gift is a bequest of cash through your will or living trust. You can arrange for a gift of a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or even all or part of the residuary of your estate. If you would like to make such a gift, your attorney may wish to include language similar to the following: "I hereby give and bequeath to Little Orphan Angels Animal Rescue & Adoption Agency, a nonprofit Texas corporation now or formerly located at PMB #252, 1540 Keller Parkway, Suite 108, Keller, Texas 76248, Federal Tax ID number 75-2916896, the sum of $ ____ in cash (or "x" percent of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate), to be used for its general purposes." (or specify a specific purpose or program).
If you already
have a will, you can add a codicil with a bequest to Little Orphan Angels.
Your attorney will need to know that Little Orphan Angels Animal Rescue and
Adoption Agency is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit Texas charitable organization with
the place of business located at PMB #252, 1540 Keller Parkway, Suite 108,
Keller, TX 76248.
A gift of Life Insurance or Retirement Plan Beneficiary Designation to Little Orphan Angels is a simple and smart way to provide for the animals at Little Orphan Angels and may result in favorable tax benefits for your heirs. Little Orphan Angels can be named owner and beneficiary of an existing fully paid policy, or you may purchase a new policy naming Little Orphan Angels as owner and beneficiary. Discuss the possibilities of planned giving through life insurance with your life insurance consultant. Retirement Plans Retirement plan assets are among the best assets to use for charitable gifts. You can create a legacy by naming Little Orphan Angels as beneficiary or contingent beneficiary of an IRA, 401(k), 403 (b), Keogh account, or other qualified retirement plan. Upon your death, all or a portion of the unused balance in your account is transferred to Little Orphan Angels as a charitable gift. When a retirement account is left to a charity, the organization does not pay the income tax otherwise due if left to a friend or non-spouse family member. To make such a gift requires merely completing a Change of Beneficiary form, which may be obtained from the plan administrator. Charitable Remainder Trusts can provide an income stream for life for you and also give you favorable tax treatment. The gift in trust can be cash, stock or other property and it is administered by a designated trustee. As the income beneficiary, you receive the income for life and then at the time of your death, the remaining principal goes to the designated charity. There are also other types of trusts that can benefit you as well as Little Orphan Angels. Talk with your financial planner or contact us for more information.
Gifts of stock
offer two-fold tax
savings. First, you avoid paying capital gains tax on the increase in value
of your stock. Also, you receive a tax deduction for the full market value
of the stock on the date of the gift. A Lasting Legacy of Love More and more people are concerned with providing care for their companion animals should their pets outlive them. We would be happy to discuss your pets’ future with you and talk about ways Little Orphan Angels might be able to help. By making a
bequest to Little Orphan Angels, we will be able to continue our mission of
saving homeless and unwanted animals and finding them loving, forever homes.
We strive to continue to be a leader in our community in promoting humane
values through awareness and education, and to be a voice for abused and
neglected animals.
Your love for
animals is evident in life, and your legacy can live on long after you’re
gone. Thank You for caring about homeless and abused animals!
